Here's a writing activity: Pretend that you are a turkey and you are trying to convince the farmer why you WOULDN'T be a good choice! Turkey advertisement.pdf : I used this with my IELTS group last night at the end of class and it had everyone in giggles. They were quite creative in their reasons! - Lisa
10 Things to know about Thanksgiving.pdf
Lesson plan for the above reading--I was going to use this as a jigsaw reading and then have the students tell whether or not it was true or false in their country. But then I overheard Carol's class using this and her idea was way better. So, I will explain it but she gets the credit. She printed out each statement on a card and hung them up in various places around the room. If it said "thanksgiving" she put "it" (i.e. the students would then later 'guess' what holiday was being explained). She put the students in pairs--one a writer, one a speaker. The speaker had to go to the paper (and without writing anything down) go back to the write and tell what was on the sheet. The writer had to write down what the speaker said. The speaker can go back as many times as necessary, but can't write anything down. Of course, to make it interesting it was a race! (Prizes are graciously accepted)~Heather
Vocab pictures
I took one of the vocab pictures, whited out (is that really a verb?!?) the vocab words and photocopied the sheet. I wrote the vocab words on the board. In teams, they had to fill out the picture sheet using the vocab words from the board.
Here are some websites or activities that might be useful for Thanksgiving lessons.
